形容詞 each と every の違い

every Mondayと each Monday は どう違う？

every = more emphasis on a group

each = more emphasis on one thing

と考えるといいと思います。

  * We have a meeting every Monday. 　＝＝＝ on all Mondays

  * Each Monday, we have a meeting. 　＝＝＝ on the individual Mondays つまり、毎月曜（飛ばすことなく）というニュアンスになります。

下の例文で、意味を確認し、違いを理解しておきましょう。

  * I see her every Sunday. (in general, on all Sundays)

  * Every student must submit their assignment by next Monday. (All students)

  * Each student chose a different theme for the essay assignment. (an individual)

ちなみに、each and every という言い方もあります。

一つ一つそれぞれ、とか　一人一人めいめいが、というように、個を強調して言いたい時に使います。

every は形容詞用法しかありませんが、 each は その他に 名詞用法・副詞用法もあることを覚えておくといいでしょう。
